Prof Bryan Jennett

Bryan Jennett

The first Society Medal was awarded to Prof. Bryan Jennett CBE at the Opening Ceremony of the EANS Meeting in Glasgow on 2nd September 2007.

The medal was awarded to him in recognition of his outstanding contribution to British Neurosurgery. Prof. Jennett, who was the academic doyen of British Neurosurgery not only created a world-leading centre of excellence for traumatic brain injury, but also fostered the careers of many future Professors of Neurosurgery.  He remained active until his eighties with the recent publication of his book on the Vegetative State.

Sadly Prof. Jennett died on 26th January 2008. He was a fitting recipient of the first SBNS Medal.
